Important Announcement:

GOOD NEWS on the OGL front. As of 27 January 2023, it looks like Hasbro/WOTC has completely backed down. The OGL looks to remain in effect and future D&D SRD will be under a Creative Commons license. Personally, I suggest everyone who can move away from the OGL as corporations (IMHO, naturally) are some of the least trustworthy entities on the planet when it comes to actually keeping their word, especially long term.

Re: WotC, the OGL 1.*, and SRD 3.*

That's a pretty remarkable turnaround. I'm just happy ML is safe and well. Note to Randall: the CC licence is irrevocable and perpetual in my understanding so even if we don't trust Hasbro/WOTC, they can't ever go back on their word regarding the existing SRD.

Re: WotC, the OGL 1.*, and SRD 3.*

"Nothing will impact any content you have already published under OGL 1.0a. That will always be licensed under OGL 1.0a. Your stuff is your stuff." Well at least it looks like Microlite is safe.Hopefully Randall will feel it's safe to keep the downloads section running. I prefer Microlite ...

Re: WotC, the OGL 1.*, and SRD 3.*

Some good news today, and news I'm hoping may encourage Randall to feel that M20 is very safe: “content already released under 1.0a will also remain unaffected.” It also will not include the license back provision that some people were afraid was a means for us to steal work. That thought never cros...

Best analysis of the situation so far, by actual lawyers: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/01/beware-gifts-dragons-how-dds-open-gaming-license-may-have-become-trap-creators A highlight for me was this: As the community has scrutinized Wizards of the Coast's past statements, it's become very clear ...

Re: WotC, the OGL 1.*, and SRD 3.*

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have zero legal knowledge but I would be surprised if it was legal to order retroactive cease and desist of free products that have been printed legally under licences that existed before a new licence came into effect (?) My gut feeling is that WOTC may very well sca...

Will this alleged upcoming licence change affect Microlite in any way?

Re: Can Microlite games be effective without magic?

Thank you quaffeine, I think I am going to give it a try. I did find some non-magical medieval RPGs online but they are about 30 dollars, which is more than I want to pay for something I will have to print and study, then possibly play for ten minutes and then decide it's not working out.
