Terms of Use
You agree, through your registration for and use of the RULES LIGHT RPGS website (all material on ruleslightrpgs.com), that you will read and obey all rules, regulations, and guidelines that may be posted from time to time in the Rules page of this site or, in the case of special rules for an individual forum or group, in a sticky message in the forum or group they apply to.
You agree to read the above mentioned rules area before posting any material in the community areas of this site.
You agree not to use RULES LIGHT RPGS for advertising (including advertisements in your signature, in posts, in articles, etc.) except in strict accordance with our rules. You understand that this forum has zero tolerance for "spam" and those who post it.
You agree that RULES LIGHT RPGS operates solely under the laws of the United States of America and the state where the server is located (New Jersey). The laws other nations are not and will not be applied to this site. All portions of the RULES LIGHT RPGS website is operated as a not-for-profit hobbyist site and is not operated as a business. All staff of RULES LIGHT RPGs are unpaid volunteers.
After you register and login to RULES LIGHT RPGS, you will be able to fill out a detailed profile. Please remember that any information you provide in your profile, in posted messages, or other content can be potentially seen by anyone on the Internet. This includes material posted in "private" forums, "private" messages, etc. as area marked "private" really just mean "not normally available to the general public".
After you register and login to RULES LIGHT RPGS, you will be able to post content to the community areas of RULES LIGHT RPGS. By posting content to the forums, groups, wiki, post comments or other community areas of RULES LIGHT RPGS, you are irrevocably authorizing the royalty-free use of that content (or edited material taken from that content) in RULES LIGHT RPGS's web sites, community areas, newsletters, mailing lists, announcement areas, blogs, and other RULES LIGHT RPGS online venues. You agree to post only original material or material that you hold the copyright to and are authorized to publish under these conditions.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages and other material you submit. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this site, its staff, and its subsidiaries in the event of any legal action as a result of your posts or other activities on this forum and web site.
While the RULES LIGHT RPGS staff reserves the right to edit or remove any message or other user-posted material for any reason, the staff cannot and does not actively monitor the messages or other user-posted material before they are publicly available, and as such, are not responsible for the content of user-posted material. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The posted messages and other materials on this message board and web site express the views of their author, and are not necessarily the views of this forum, its staff, its subsidiaries, or this forum's owner. All information on this board and associated websites is "as is" and it is your responsibility to fully check its accuracy and legality in your jurisdiction before acting on it in any way. Nothing on this site should be construed as providing financial, legal or medical advice.
Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded, which can be used to identify you in the event that you need to be banned from this forum or your ISP must be contacted because of your behavior here. The owners of RULES LIGHT RPGS reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint about your behavior to law enforcement is necessary or in the event of legal action arising from any situation caused by your use of this web site.
Also note that the software used by RULES LIGHT RPGS places a cookies, text files containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out or to assist in other actions you have elected to take on this website. You may turn cookies off in your browser, but then you will not be able to use many parts of our web site. Various third party services may also place cookies on your machine under their own terms of service. Third party cookies may track your web usage across many web sites on the Internet. You may opt out of third party tracking cookies at the web site of the party placing the cookie.
RULES LIGHT RPGS does not use third party advertising networks. Some links (e.g, those to products sold on OneBookShelf.com web sites) may be affiliate marketing links, meaning we may get commission on sales of those products or services mentioned and/or linked to on our web site.
Donations to RULES LIGHT RPGS are completely voluntary. Donations are non-refundable and do not exempt the donor from following our Rules nor reduce the penalties for breaking these rules.
These terms of service may be changed from time to time without advance notice.
Privacy policy
This policy explains in detail how “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” along with its affiliated companies (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs”, “https://ruleslightrpgs.com/community”) and phpBB (hereinafter “they”, “them”, “their”, “phpBB software”, “www.phpbb.com”, “phpBB Limited”, “phpBB Teams”) use any information collected during any session of usage by you (hereinafter “your information”).
Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, by browsing “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” will cause the phpBB software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (hereinafter “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter “session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the phpBB software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.
We may also create cookies external to the phpBB software whilst browsing “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs”, though these are outside the scope of this document which is intended to only cover the pages created by the phpBB software. The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter “anonymous posts”), registering on “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” (hereinafter “your account”) and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter “your posts”).
Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter “your user name”), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter “your password”) and a personal, valid email address (hereinafter “your email”). Your information for your account at “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the country that hosts us. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your email address required by “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs” during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs”. In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated emails from the phpBB software.
Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs”, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with “The Forum @ Rules Light RPGs”, phpBB or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided by the phpBB software. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the phpBB software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.
